Loews Hotel Vogue
Montreal, Canada
by: Gulshan Sippy

The Loews Hotel Vogue in Montreal feels like a little gem when you first walk in with a perfect jewel of a lobby bar and lounge under a soaring glass ceiling. Get up to your room, though and it’s another story. Everything’s big: king bed, high ceilings, huge TV, and, my favourite, a big old Jacuzzi in the marble bathroom with its own little TV. I took three baths in  the first eighteen hours of my stay. I’ve never been so clean.

On Rue de la Montaigne, right across from my favorite store in Montreal–Ogilvy’s, the Loews Hotel Vogue couldn’t be more centrally located. You can walk to the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and Holts, just around the corner on Sherbrooke Street and some of the most famous delicatessens in the city are within blocks should you need a late night snack of a Montreal smoked meat sandwich.

Right in the hotel is a charming and excellent Italian restaurant called Cellini’s where the waiters joke and tell stories with great aplomb in either official language. And if you over indulge  you can do penance in the well equipped gym/exercise room on the top floor.

The second floor boasts a bevy of chic reception rooms linked by a lobby done in cherry-stained oak and shining brass which, like the rest of the hotel, speaks of understated elegance.
